Our Mission

The goal of Haven Retreats is to create sustainability in foster care and adoption.

We believe that by supporting the caregivers, we are providing direct stability to the children in the home.

We offer therapeutic retreats and wrap- around care for the caregivers of foster and adoptive children.

“I believe that there is water in the desert - and it’s available for everybody. Haven is water in the desert for foster and adoptive caregivers.”

— Rebecca Harvin, Founder

Our Weekends

We currently offer four separate weekends retreats for foster and adoptive families: moms, dads, couples, and biological children.

Each retreat will have licensed therapists for group and individual sessions, plenty of good food, and a skeleton outline that participants can choose to partake in or opt out in favor of rest.

Our Beginnings

A year and a half into her journey as a foster mom, feeling overwhelmed by the struggles inside her home, and wanting to run away Rebecca Harvin was faced with a decision to make: quit foster care or figure out how to make it sustainable. She began to dream of a space where foster and adoptive parents could find true rest, receive therapy for their own triggers, spend time in quiet meditation, and eat really good food. The goal would be holistic rest: body, mind, and spirit. Dreams became a reality in the fall of 2019 when Haven Retreats, Inc. hosted its first Haven Moms retreat.

Meet the Team

  • Rebecca Harvin

    FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR

Rebecca Harvin is the founder and Executive Director of Haven Retreats. Rebecca, and her husband Brad, began fostering in May of 2017. In July of 2022, she and her husband adopted a sibling set of four. Haven Retreats was born from a season of caregiver burnout and the assumption that if she needs a space for rest, therapy and Jesus... other people probably do too.

As an Enneagram 7, Rebecca loves adventure, traveling, spontaneity and engaging the world around her with humor and a positive outlook.

  • Sara Buckley

    OPERATIONS MANAGER AND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

Sara joined the Haven team in August 2022 after spending several years at home with her children. With a background in Administration at various ministries and non-profits, Sara is a perfect fit for the role of Operations Manager at Haven. Sara is constantly gifting us with her ability to see macro and micro at the same time.

She is married to Swin and they have two small boys and one crazy dog. They’ve lived on 3 continents, but have gladly called Jacksonville home (again!!) for 8 years.

  • Courtney Studard

    OFFICE MANAGER AND EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Courtney is a Jacksonville native. She graduated from University of North Florida with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Sports Medicine. She worked in her field for 11 years before needing a change of pace and found herself at Haven.

Courtney is married to David and they have two boys. When she's not working you can find her on the Appalachian Trail hiking with her family, surfing at the beach, or enjoying the many family activities that Springfield has to offer.
